BLOOD LIBEL: Stockholm Protest Sparks Outrage With Antisemitic Display

Apr 19, 2026·2 min read

If anyone had doubts that accusations against Israel’s actions in Gaza often cross over into blood libel, look no further than the protest in Stockholm, Sweden, over the weekend — when a man who looked suspiciously like Itamar Ben-Gvir, covered in fake blood, mimed the slaughter of a Palestinian woman and her baby. Then he mimed telling everyone to keep silent or they’d be killed too — reflecting another antisemitic accusation that Jews silence anyone who dares to criticize Israel.

The grisly display sent shockwaves through the global Jewish community, with Israel’s ambassador to Sweden, Ziv Nevo Kulman, blasting the demonstration.

“Open acts of antisemitism, week after week on the streets of Stockholm,” he said. “The same centuries-old stereotypes and blood libels, repackaged by replacing ‘Jews’ with ‘Zionists.’ Authorities are allowing the abuse of ‘freedom of expression’ to promote hatred and incitement against a national minority.”

Hundreds of people who joined the protest marched with signs that said “Children are being killed in Gaza,” “Schools and hospitals are bombed,” “Stop the attacks on Lebanon” and “End the starvation.” They gathered in Odenplan Square to protest Israeli policies vis-à-vis the West Bank and the operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon.

The protest organizers defended the disgusting display, saying it falls within the bounds of free speech.

The ancient blood libel is back — cloaked in the protective guise of freedom of expression.
