Despite the ceasefire with Hezbollah taking effect last week, the truce was broken when sirens warning of incoming missile fire sounded in northern Israel at around 6:40 PM local time on Tuesday, along the confrontation line between Israel and Lebanon.
Initially, the IDF dismissed the alerts as a false alarm. However, minutes later, the military issued a correction, confirming that Hezbollah rockets and a UAV had indeed been launched into Israeli territory.
In an official statement, the IDF reported: “A short while ago, the Hezbollah terrorist organization launched several rockets toward IDF soldiers operating south of the Forward Defense Line, in the area of Rab Thalathin in southern Lebanon. In response, the IDF struck the launcher from which the rockets were launched.”
The IDF added that contrary to the report of the false identification, and according to an additional inquiry, the sirens in the areas of Kfar Yuval and Ma’ayan Baruch were most likely sounded following the interception of a UAV launched from Lebanon prior to crossing into Israeli territory.
