This week’s captured moment takes us to the center of Boro Park and to a barber shop located on 16th Avenue. To the right of this shop came a chassidishe shtiebel—one of Boro Park’s first shtieblach—in the early 1950’s, and it continues to exist there until this day.

In the picture, we see Reb Meilich Neiman, an important Gerer personality, clutching a sefer Torah which was being inaugurated at the nearby Gerer Mesivta. In the background, we see “the Hat Rack” establishment, located where Gross Bakery is located today.
