El Al has inaugurated a massive new Tamam airline catering facility at Ben Gurion Airport, billed as one of the most advanced flight-meal plants in the world and the largest of its kind for kosher aviation catering. The new facility is part of the El Al Group and marks a major upgrade to one of the quiet engines behind Israel’s national airline.

The numbers are serious: about 14,000 square meters, hundreds of millions of shekels invested, and capacity for roughly 50,000 meals a day, up from around 30,000 at the previous facility. The plant includes upgraded systems for food preparation, quality control, and more efficient service for El Al passengers.
Tamam has long been a major player in kosher aviation food, serving El Al and other airlines from Ben Gurion Airport. The older operation had been described years ago as the world’s largest kosher food plant, with peak output around 40,000 meals a day, before the industry was shaken by the COVID aviation crash.

The new facility will begin full operations gradually over the coming months. For El Al, this is more than better airplane food — it is a major infrastructure investment aimed at raising the passenger experience and supporting the airline’s continued growth out of Israel.
