The IDF bagged another Hamas terrorist, the son of a really big gun, the military confirmed Wednesday. Azzam al-Hayya, a member of the elite Nukhba force of Hamas that led the charge into Israel on Oct. 7, was the son of Khalil al-Hayya, who was just elected earlier this week as the leader of the Gaza faction of Hamas, along with Khaled Mashal, the overall leader of the terror group, and Zaher Jabareen, leader of the West Bank faction.

Al-Hayya is no stranger to losing his sons to IDF strikes — Azzam marks number four. In 2008, his son Hamza was killed. In 2014, his eldest, Osama, was killed, along with Osama’s wife and son. In 2025, his son Hammam was killed in the largely unsuccessful Israeli attempt to take out Hamas’ leadership in Doha, Qatar. Al-Hayya was himself in Doha at the time and a target in that mission.
Al-Hayya had left Gaza before the Oct. 7 attack and has been managing affairs from Doha, reportedly engaging in indirect talks with the Israelis during previous negotiations.
Nassim Kalazani, a senior officer in Hamas’ police force, was also killed the same day in a separate airstrike.
