A pedestrian was seriously injured Wednesday night after being struck along 8th Avenue.

The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. near the area of 43rd Street and 44th Street. Emergency crews responded to the scene as police temporarily blocked part of 8th Avenue during the investigation.

Officials said the victim was transported to Maimonides Medical Center with serious injuries.

Investigators have not yet released details on what type of vehicle struck the pedestrian or what led up to the crash. The victim’s identity and current condition have also not been released.
