It is with deep regret that we inform you of the untimely petirah of Benny Shor, a born and bred Boro Parker, and longtime proprietor of Diamond Vision opticians. He was 59 years of age, and suffered from a terrible illness.
The niftar was the son of, ybl"ch, Reb Pinchos Shor, a well-known personality in the community, a plumber by trade who devoted his life to helping Russian immigrants return to the Yiddishkeit that had been robbed from them in the Former Soviet Union.
Benny was raised in the Karlin-Stoliner community, and always retained a close connection to the chassidus.
An entrepreneur by nature, and he established Diamond Vision Opticals, an extremely reputable establishment which continues to operate on 48th Street in Boro Park, with an additional branch in Lakewood. Benny was known for his extreme honesty, always selling the customer what they truly needed, not what was easier, more profitable, or more convenient for him. He gained a sterling reputation in business and in his personal life for his ehrlichkeit and yiras Shomayim.
For many years, Benny was a pillar of the Pozna Kehillah in Flatbush, and Rav Avrohom Eisen, Pozna Rov, recalled a man who always went out of his way for others and for the needs of the kehillah. "He was one of the founders of the Shul, and had a great zechus in bringing the kehillah to where it is today," recalled Rav Eisen. "He was a great person, and a truly refined individual who will be deeply mourned by all those who knew him."
He suffered from a debilitating illness, and sadly passed away on Tuesday morning, plunging his family and many friends into mourning.
The levaya will take place in Shomrei Hadas Chapels at 1:00 this afternoon.
Yehi zichro baruch.
