Following multiple accidents and countless near misses across Boro Park in recent weeks, BoroPark24 launched a public awareness campaign urging residents to stop, think, and stay alert before another tragedy, chas veshalom, occurs.
In a busy neighborhood filled with families, children, school busses, delivery vehicles, and constant movement, it only takes a moment for something serious to happen. Thankfully, many of these incidents end as near misses. But the number of close calls should be a warning to everyone before, chas veshalom, another tragedy occurs.
Street safety is not only the responsibility of drivers. Pedestrians, parents, bicyclists, scooter riders, and children all play a role in staying alert and careful.
- Parents must speak to their children about stopping before crossing, looking both ways, and never running into the street. Children often assume drivers see them - but on crowded blocks with limited visibility, that is not always the case.
- Drivers should slow down even when the street appears empty. In Boro Park, pedestrians can step into the roadway at any moment from between parked cars.
- Parents pushing strollers should never enter the street before checking carefully for traffic. Stop first, look both ways, and only then begin crossing.
- Children riding scooters or bicycles should be reminded to stay extra vigilant, especially at night when smaller riders are harder for drivers to see.
Boro Park streets are active from early morning until late at night. With a little more caution from everyone, accidents can be prevented to keep our neighborhood safer for all.
SPREAD THE AWARENESS - LET’S SAVE LIVES.
