BREAKING UPDATE: CHEMED Formally Announces “The Medical Village” – A 60-Acre Outpatient Healthcare Campus in Lakewood
Last year, TLS exclusively reported about CHEMED’s plans to open a medical village in Lakewood. Today, CHEMED Health has announced the development of The Medical Village, an approximately 60-acre, purpose-built healthcare campus in Lakewood.
Officials tell TLS the Village will be built in the Airport Road area.
This outpatient-focused campus is designed to integrate a broad range of individualized primary care and specialty services in one location, making healthcare more accessible and coordinated for families in the region.
The new campus represents a bold shift in healthcare delivery: an outpatient-first model where each provider and service operates within a single, connected system. This allows families to experience top-quality healthcare without unnecessary delays and the hassles of navigating multiple facilities. The campus is purposefully planned to facilitate communication and coordination between care teams, avoiding the need for patients and their families to travel between multiple locations.
“We’re reimagining the very experience of care in a way that’s never really been done before,” said CHEMED CEO Dr. Dovid Friedman. “The need is real, the demand is urgent, and we have the insight and infrastructure to make it happen. Our goal is full-spectrum, whole-family healthcare — seamlessly delivered through a single, integrated system where every provider is in sync and every family feels seen, supported, and prioritized.”
In order to address the needs of the community, the Village will include more than 50 specialties, including primary care, dental care, mental health services, pediatric specialties, women’s health, a standalone emergency department, an ambulatory surgery center, and a state-of-the-art diagnostic radiology center. Patients and their families will be able to select a practice with a provider aligned to their individualized preferences in a private setting.
While the Village is an exclusively outpatient and non-hospital facility, CHEMED Health is actively speaking with potential hospital partners to coordinate access to all levels of care.
The Medical Village is currently conducting due diligence and will be working closely with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements and licensing for the project.
