President Donald Trump underwent a routine medical exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Tuesday, after which he declared that the results were perfect.
“Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Everything checked out PERFECTLY. Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff! Heading back to the White House.”
There had been speculation about a visible neck rash, and also months ago, about a bruise on his hand and swelling in his ankles. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said at the time that the bruise was from shaking hands, and his doctor, Sean Barbabella, said the swelling arose from a minor vein condition and did not indicate deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease.
The president also revealed last October that he had received an MRI as part of a second physical exam, assuring reporters that this was routine.
“Getting an MRI is very standard. What, you think I shouldn’t have it? Other people get it. … I had an MRI. The doctor said it was the best result he has ever seen as a doctor,” he said at the time.
Following that exam, Barbabella noted that the president’s cardiac age was 14 years younger than his actual age.
Today’s visit to Walter Reed marks the third in 13 months. While the president is known to golf a lot, he recently joked at an Oval Office event about his lack of exercise, in response to Secretary of Health Robert F. Kennedy’s remark that when Trump goes golfing, he covers about nine miles of walking.
“When I am not using the cart,” Trump quipped.
When Trump began his second term, he became the oldest person in history to assume the office of the presidency.
