Netanyahu Team Disputes Leak Claiming Trump Warned PM About Jail and Global Hatred, Says Tense Call Focused on Beirut and Ceasefire Messaging
A source on Prime Minister Netanyahu’s team who was on the overnight call with President Trump says the leaked version of the conversation distorted key details. According to the source, Trump did not make personal comments about keeping Netanyahu out of prison, nor did he say Netanyahu is personally hated around the world.
The call was tense, but the dispute centered on how both leaders publicly framed their earlier, lengthy phone call. Trump complained that Netanyahu’s post made it sound as if Israel would keep fighting at full force on every front, except for a pause on strikes in Beirut. Netanyahu pushed back that Trump’s post made it sound as if Israel had agreed to a sweeping ceasefire across all fronts.

Trump did say it has become difficult to defend Israel’s position internationally, and that the situation is fueling hatred toward Israel, the source said. That differs from the harsher leaked claim that Trump personally attacked Netanyahu with remarks about jail and global hatred.
The call ended with understandings: Israel would avoid striking Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s Dahiyeh district as long as Hezbollah does not attack inside Israel’s borders. Netanyahu’s public position remains that Israel will hit terrorist targets in Beirut if Hezbollah keeps attacking Israeli cities and civilians, while the IDF continues operating in southern Lebanon.
