Skvere Kehilla Dayanim of Monsey Resolve Kohanim Concerns Along Brick Church Road
Following questions raised by Kohanim regarding travel along Brick Church Road, where tree branches from cemeteries were extending over portions of the roadway, the Dayanim of the Skvere Kehilla in Monsey worked to address the issue and remove any concerns.
Although the matter involved a chumra and not a clear halachic prohibition, the Dayanim sought to ensure that Kohanim would be able to travel the road without hesitation. After discussions with the relevant parties, the overhanging trees were recently cut, eliminating the concern.
In a gesture appreciated by community members, the church responsible for the property reportedly covered the cost of the tree removal. Residents noted that the cooperative effort helped accommodate the needs of Kohanim.
