A Gun Buyback Event held Thursday was a success thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, the Spring Valley Police Department, the Ramapo Police Department, and the New York State Police.
A total of 19 firearms were voluntarily surrendered, including 11 handguns, 3 assault-style rifles, and 5 long guns. Officials say every firearm turned in represents one less opportunity for a weapon to be lost, stolen, misused, or involved in a tragedy.
“Every gun removed from our streets is a step toward a safer community,” officials said. “While we may never know the incidents that were prevented, each firearm collected today represents a positive investment in public safety and peace of mind for our residents.”
