Despite Iran Rift, Israeli Leaders Shower Trump With Birthday Praise
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog posted on X birthday wishes to President Donald Trump in honor of his 80th birthday amid profound disagreements between Washington and Jerusalem over the impending U.S.-Iran deal and how to respond to Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel.
“Happy birthday Mr. @POTUS, Happy birthday Donald,” Netanyahu wrote. “This year your birthday comes at an auspicious time. America celebrates 250 years of freedom — a great nation built on liberty and faith. I wish you continued strength and vigor as you lead America towards a bright future of peace through strength, and as we continue to bring the U.S. — Israel alliance to ever greater heights.”
Herzog was a bit more effusive.

“Happy 80th birthday, President @realDonaldTrump! Your remarkable journey to the White House represents the breadth of the American dream and the power of your own resolve,” he wrote. “The people of Israel are grateful for your leadership in confronting Iran’s empire of evil and for your steadfast commitment to the security of Israel. We will never forget your tireless efforts in securing the release of our beloved hostages. May you lead the Middle East and the world toward peace and security and continue to strengthen the unique U.S.-Israel partnership.”
“In Jewish tradition, it is stated that at the age of eighty you gain unique prowess,” he added. “May you enjoy your beautiful family and many happy birthdays with blessings and joy. Mazal tov!”

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, leader of Bennett 2026, as well as Together, a joint alliance with Yair Lapid’s Yesh Atid Party to defeat Netanyahu in the next election, also chimed in.
“Happy birthday @realDonaldTrump! Am Yisrael, the people of Israel, stand together today to wish President Donald Trump a historic 80th birthday,” he posted. “Your leadership has carved an unforgettable chapter in the history of our nation. You stood unbreakable by our side in our darkest hours, championed the return of our hostages back home, recognized our sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and courageously made Jerusalem, our eternal capital, the honored home of the American Embassy. Mazal Tov!”
