‘Zionists Out’: Jewish Marchers Harassed at Italy Pride Parade

Jun 14, 2026·2 min read

Just one week after the Rome pride parade banned Italy’s only Jewish LGBT group Keshet Italia, drawing backlash for its controversial ban, Jewish marchers were harassed and assaulted at a pride parade in Bologna, Italy, Saturday.

Violence toward and harassment of Jews at pride parades has become par for the course.

Jewish participants who wore pride flags and shirts bearing the Star of David were ordered to take them off. A pregnant woman was shoved, and a family with small children was shouted at and called “murderers.” Others were called “baby killers.”

Israel’s ambassador to Italy, Jonathan Peled, strongly denounced the harassment on X.

“I express my firm condemnation for what happened at the Bologna Pride, where some Israeli demonstrators were violently attacked: an unacceptable act and contrary to the values of equality, freedom, and inclusion,” he wrote.

Peled rebuked the paradegoers for exhibiting the opposite of the spirit of inclusion, a spirit he said was demonstrated at the pride parade in Tel Aviv.

“The exact opposite of what happened in Tel Aviv, where thousands of people — Jews, Christians, and Muslims — marched together in an atmosphere of respect and coexistence,” he wrote.

A Jewish social media user who attended the parade wrote about her experience on X.

“After the exclusion of Keshet Italia from Roma Pride today we were excluded from Bologna Pride amid shouts of ‘Zionists out of the parade’ for having displayed rainbow flags with the Star of David and a sign ‘Jewish & Iranian LGBTQ lives matter,'” she posted.
