IRONIC: Nazi-Tattoo Candidate Lectures Israel on War Crimes

Jun 16, 2026·3 min read

The Senate candidate with the Nazi tattoo has taken to lecturing people about war crimes.

Graham Platner, who is running against Sen. Susan Collins for the Maine Senate seat, for years sported a Nazi Totenkopf (death’s-head) tattoo on his chest, which he inked over only when it became politically inconvenient for him, i.e., when he announced his candidacy and folks found out about it. He claimed ignorance of the symbol’s Nazi associations, but people close to him, including his ex-girlfriend, said that he not only understood the significance of the Totenkopf but openly bragged about it.

Platner also tipped his hand when he complained about AIPAC and how much money his opponent received from the Jewish American lobbying group.

His latest scandal involves sexting women other than his wife, but nevertheless, he still won the primary election.

Now he has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of war crimes.

“Benjamin Netanyahu is an international fugitive,” Platner wrote on X Monday. “He is charged with the war crimes of starvation as a method of warfare and of intentionally directing an attack against the civilian population; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution and other inhumane acts.”

Yaakov Kaplan, a member of Brooklyn Community Board 12, was not impressed.

“The man with a Nazi tattoo is lecturing on war crimes,” he said, noting the irony.

The vice president of external affairs at the Edmund Burke Foundation, Will Chamberlain, schooled Platner on the reason for Israel’s existence.

“The whole point of Israel, Graham, is to make it so that guys wearing Totenkopfs can’t just throw Jews in jail for arbitrary reasons,” he wrote on X.

The comment invited a deluge of scorn on X, with users saying how very not shocking it is for a Nazi-tattoo-sporting guy to spread lies about Israel.

“Person with SS Totenkopf tattoo for 18 years doesn’t like Israel or it’s current leader … Color me shocked!!” read one representative sample.

Another user posted a side-by-side image of the Totenkopf displayed on Heinrich Himmler’s cap and Platner’s tattoo, saying, “Oh look the successor to Heinrich Himmler is hating on jews What a shock,” and skipping all of the punctuation to make his point.

In the photo, both men also sport Hitler-style mustaches.
