Iran’s Supreme Leader Says He Approved Trump MOU Despite Reservations
In a statement posted on X, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei said he authorized the newly signed U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding despite initially holding a different view.
Khamenei said Iranian officials convinced him to approve the agreement after assuring him that Iran’s interests and the future of the so-called “Resistance Front” would be protected.
He also claimed President Trump used significant leverage to secure the deal, while warning that Iran would not accept what it considers excessive American demands.
The statement appears to confirm that Iran’s highest authority has formally endorsed the agreement, a major development as both sides prepare for the next phase of negotiations.

Critics argue the message suggests Tehran believes it negotiated from a position of strength, while supporters say the agreement could open the door to broader regional de-escalation and future diplomacy.
