Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has shared a warning that electing a leader unable to confront Iran could expose Israelis to the danger of a “second Holocaust”, alongside an AI-generated image depicting a nuclear explosion over Tel Aviv. The message, shared just two days before Israel’s general election, argues that Israel has a limited window of opportunity to confront Iran while Donald Trump remains US president, warning that future generations “will not forgive us if we miss this historic window of opportunity”.

Ukraine: Elon Musk has acknowledged that SpaceX deliberately restricted Ukraine’s Starlink satellite internet service, accusing the Ukrainian military of violating its terms of service by using it for offensive drone strikes against Russia. Musk had previously denied deliberately slowing Ukraine’s connection, which Ukrainian officials say disrupted defensive military operations, including the interception of Russian drones, for more than a week. However, Musk maintains that the separate military-grade Starshield system is controlled by the US Government and denies responsibility for restrictions affecting it. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Saturday that both services had returned to their previous operating speeds.

UK: Chancellor John Healey is reportedly planning to give HMRC wider powers to recover unpaid taxes directly from people’s bank accounts without obtaining a court order. The measures, expected to be announced in Wednesday’s Budget, would allow HMRC to pursue smaller outstanding debts from individuals and businesses who repeatedly ignore demands for payment. Around 4.8 million taxpayers and businesses reportedly owe a combined £4 billion in smaller debts. HMRC already has powers to take money directly from bank accounts in certain circumstances, but the proposed expansion has raised concerns that vulnerable taxpayers or people caught up in administrative errors could be unfairly affected.

Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he has requested a plan to explore using cryptocurrency and blockchain technology to bypass potential international banking sanctions against Israel. Speaking in a television interview on Friday, Netanyahu warned that Israel must prepare for possible financial restrictions and the eventual end of US military assistance. However, the Bank of Israel rejected the proposal on Saturday, warning that cryptocurrencies cannot be used to circumvent sanctions and urging the government to focus on preserving Israel’s international economic relationships. Responding to the criticism, Netanyahu said he would consider the central bank’s advice but ultimately do what he believes is best.

France: Nearly 1,000 people have been arrested during nationwide protests on Saturday, according to France’s interior minister, as hundreds of thousands demonstrated over the rising cost of living and education funding. Clashes erupted in several cities, with protesters throwing objects at police, barricades set alight and officers deploying tear gas and water cannon. Authorities estimate around 410,000 people took part nationwide, while unions put the figure at approximately 800,000. Despite the clashes, France has largely avoided a repeat of last weekend’s widespread riots and looting, which saw more than 2,700 arrests.

Israel: Israeli forces have launched a major military operation in Hebron following Friday’s terror shooting attack that killed two Israeli soldiers. The IDF says troops are searching for terrorists and weapons, while buildings in the area have been demolished as part of the operation. Palestinian officials say around 1,500 residents have been displaced, with dozens of people arrested. The Palestinian Authority has condemned the operation as collective punishment. The Israeli military says the operation is expected to last several days.
