JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a joint operation by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Central Galilee Unit of the Northern District Police, four Israeli citizens from the north were arrested for questioning: Ahmad Sarhan, 19, Muhammad Khalil, 18, and two additional minors, on suspicion of promoting security-related activity.

During their investigation by the ISA and the Northern District Police, it emerged that the suspects were conspiring to carry out an attack in the city of Karmiel, specifically targeting soldiers. Some of them reportedly trained and received guidance in preparation for executing the attack.

At the conclusion of the investigation, indictments against the four are expected to be filed on Monday morning by the Haifa District Attorney’s Office.

Police stated: “The investigation exposed serious terror activity involving residents of the Galilee, citizens of the State of Israel, who conspired with the aim of carrying out severe security-related activity against security forces.”

They added: “The Shin Bet and Israel Police view with utmost severity any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger the security of the state and its citizens, and will continue to act decisively to detect and thwart such activity.”
