Netanyahu Issues Stark Warning to Iran in Rare Short Knesset Speech: ‘We Will Respond With Unimaginable Forc
JERUSALEM (VINnews)-Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered an unusually brief and somber address to the Knesset on Monday, warning Iran against any attack and calling for national unity amid heightened regional tensions.
In the short speech during a debate convened by the opposition, Netanyahu described the current period as “very complex and challenging times, concerning the life of the state.”
“No one knows what tomorrow will bring,” he said. “We are keeping a watchful eye and are prepared for any scenario. If Iran makes a mistake—perhaps the most serious mistake in its history—and attacks Israel, we will respond with a force they cannot even imagine.”
Netanyahu emphasized readiness and deterrence, noting that Israel is at a peak of military strength and coordination with allies, particularly the United States.
He urged Israelis to “close ranks and stand shoulder to shoulder,” highlighting past successes when united. Referencing the upcoming Purim holiday—which commemorates the deliverance of Jews in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction—he added: “On the eve of the Purim holiday, we will stand together—and, with God’s help, we will ensure the eternity of Israel.”
The address, which lasted only minutes and focused almost entirely on Iran rather than domestic political disputes, stood in contrast to Netanyahu’s typically longer and more theatrical Knesset appearances. He reportedly set aside a prepared partisan speech in favor of the direct message.
The remarks come against the backdrop of escalating concerns over potential Iranian retaliation or escalation in the region, following recent developments in U.S.-Israel coordination and military deployments. Opposition figures, including Yair Lapid, have also indicated that a confrontation with Iran may be imminent.
