IDF Demolishes 5 Kilometers of Hamas Tunnels in Northern Gaza’s Beit Hanoun
JERUSALEM (VINnews)-The Israel Defense Forces recently demolished approximately five kilometers (about three miles) of Hamas tunnels in the Beit Hanoun area of northern Gaza, the military announced Wednesday.
During operations inside one of the underground routes, IDF troops discovered a cache of weapons and related equipment, according to the army.
The stockpile included explosive devices, firearms, rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), hand grenades, ammunition and surveillance gear, the IDF said.
The demolition was carried out by combat engineers from the Northern Brigade, working with specialized Yahalom engineering units, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas terrorist infrastructure in the region.
The announcement comes amid continued Israeli military activity in parts of Gaza, including areas near the so-called Yellow Line buffer zone.
No further details on casualties or the timing of the specific operation were immediately provided by the IDF.
Beit Hanoun, located in northern Gaza near the Israeli border, has been a focal point for tunnel discoveries and military operations throughout the conflict.
