Fascinating Report Details How Israel Allegedly Engineered Operation to Eliminate Khamenei

Mar 3, 2026·2 min read

A sweeping investigative report published in the British newspaper The Financial Times outlines what it describes as the extensive intelligence effort that culminated in the elimination of Iran’s former supreme leader, Ali Khamenei. According to the report, the operation was years in the making and relied on a sophisticated blend of advanced technological surveillance and precise human intelligence, with close monitoring of the daily routines of senior regime figures in Tehran.

The investigation claims that over an extended period, nearly all traffic cameras across the Iranian capital were hacked. The footage gathered was reportedly transmitted to servers in Tel Aviv and southern Israel, where analysts tracked the movements of security personnel, drivers, and other key individuals connected to the leadership. One particular camera angle is said to have provided a crucial vantage point, revealing where members of Khamenei’s security detail routinely parked and how activity inside the secured compound typically unfolded.

At the same time, Israel allegedly penetrated Iranian cellular networks, gaining access to communications data and movement patterns of high-ranking officials. Sources cited in the report said that the CIA also maintained a human source who confirmed that a meeting attended by Khamenei was scheduled for Saturday morning — a detail that helped complete the intelligence picture and finalize operational planning.

To prevent any last-minute alerts within the security perimeter, cellular antennas near the meeting location were reportedly disrupted, causing phones to appear “busy” in real time. A senior figure in Israel’s intelligence community told the newspaper: “הכרנו את טהראן כמו שאנחנו מכירים את ירושלים – We knew Tehran the way we know Yerushalayim.” According to the account, the combined intelligence gathered by Unit 8200 and Mossad operatives enabled the launch of up to 30 precision-guided munitions at the meeting site.

The report further asserts that the timing of the strike was driven by assessments that in the event of open war, top regime officials would quickly disappear into fortified underground bunkers. By integrating advanced algorithms, analysis of behavioral patterns — including residential addresses, work schedules, and travel routes — and the focused activation of intelligence assets, planners created the framework for what was described as a successful mission.
