IDF Strikes Tehran Building Where Iran Was Picking Khamenei Successor
TEHRAN — Israeli forces struck a building in Tehran where Iran’s Assembly of Experts was reportedly meeting to select a successor to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Israeli sources said Tuesday.
Iranian news agencies reported the building was “flattened” in the overnight attack, but no casualties have been confirmed.
The strike came as part of Israel’s Operation Roaring Lion, launched after Khamenei and several top Iranian officials were killed early Saturday. The Israeli Air Force has conducted more than 2,500 bombings on over 600 targets across Iran, including leadership complexes, military training centers, and intelligence facilities, according to the IDF.
A member of the Assembly of Experts told Iranian media that the selection of Khamenei’s successor “won’t take long.”
