IDF Says It Struck Secret Underground Iranian Nuclear Facility Housing Weapons Development Team
The Israel Defense Forces announced Tuesday night that it carried out a strike on a covert Iranian site identified as “Minzadehei,” describing it as a facility where the regime was advancing critical components needed for nuclear weapons.
During an evening briefing, IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin said the target was part of Iran’s continued effort to develop military nuclear capabilities, even after sustaining significant damage in earlier operations.
According to the military, “Despite the severe damage [in Operation Rising Lion], the Iranian terror regime did not cease nuclear weapon activities and continued to advance development of the required capabilities for nuclear weapons, while shifting infrastructure to an underground site defended against aerial strikes.”
The IDF stated that the facility housed a specialized team operating in secrecy.
“In the site, a group of nuclear scientists operated covertly to develop a key component for nuclear weapons,” the military stated.
Israeli intelligence services tracked the scientists’ movements after previous strikes and ultimately identified their relocation to the underground compound, officials said.
“IDF intelligence continued to follow the scientists’ activities and located their new location at this site in a manner that enabled a precise strike on the covert underground compound.
“The strike removes a key component in the Iranian regime’s capability to develop nuclear weapons and joins a series of strikes conducted during Operation ‘Rising Lion’ that were essential to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat,” the IDF statement concluded.
