JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A dramatic report from open-source intelligence sources published on Thursday in a Twitter account that specializes in sensational reports from open sources claims that an American F-15 fighter jet crashed in western Iran. The aircraft’s crew managed to eject successfully before the impact and remained on the ground.

The account, named OSINTdefender, states:
“After speaking with several direct sources, I now feel confident reporting that a U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle crashed early Wednesday morning during a strike mission over southwestern Iran. The cause of the crash is still unknown, although at least one source attributed it to Iranian air defenses. Both the pilot and the navigator managed to eject successfully over Iran.”

Following the crash, Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) elements with the U.S and Israeli Air Force – on standby in a neighboring country – were activated, entering Iran roughly an hour after the crash of the F-15.

In the resulting operation, both crewmembers were found and safely evacuated without further incident, being transported to Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia. The Pilot and WSO are claimed to suffered minor injuries but were in otherwise “good condition,” with both being airlifted for further treatment to Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

Further confirmation and details of the incident are expected to come at a later time from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).”

On Wednesday, the commander of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar, published a letter to Air Force personnel addressing the ongoing campaign against Iran and the activities of the forces in recent days.

In the letter, the Air Force commander also hinted at additional operations taking place simultaneously.“Fighters from the Air Force’s special units are currently carrying out extraordinary missions that can ignite the imagination,” he wrote, without elaborating on the nature of the activity.

He also noted that operational pressure is affecting the enemy. According to him, Israel is identifying a decline in the volume of fire alongside cumulative damage to the enemy’s capabilities and a gradual erosion of its strength, while Israel’s air superiority continues to become more firmly established.
