JERUSALEM (VINnews) — U.S. President Donald Trump called on Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday to grant a pardon to former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, saying Herzog’s delay is “a disgrace.”

In an exclusive interview with Israel’s Channel 12, Trump said Herzog has promised him five times over the past year that he would issue the pardon but has yet to do so. “I don’t want anything bothering Bibi except the war with Iran,” Trump said, adding, “Herzog is a disgrace. Tell him I’m exposing him.”

Trump also referenced previous comments during his last visit to Israel, when he suggested on the Knesset podium that Herzog should consider pardoning Netanyahu. Trump said the remarks were made amid applause and were “well-timed,” though he acknowledged the subject is sensitive in Israel.
