Watch: Israeli Bomb Unit Warns of Dangers From Iranian Missile Debris

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — A senior official in the Israel Police Bomb Disposal Unit warned that debris from Iranian ballistic missiles launched toward Israel can pose serious dangers, particularly when unexploded submunitions remain on the ground.

Doron Lavi, who heads development for the unit, said some Iranian missiles are equipped with warheads that disperse dozens of smaller explosives over wide areas rather than detonating in a single blast. These smaller munitions can scatter across several miles and explode almost simultaneously, creating multiple impact points.

He cautioned that any unexploded devices should be treated as live explosives. Members of the public are urged not to touch suspicious objects or missile fragments and instead report them immediately to authorities.

Lavi also warned that parts of missile engines and fuel tanks may contain hazardous chemicals, including highly toxic fuels that can cause serious burns or injury if handled or inhaled.

He stressed that following alerts and safety instructions from the Israel Home Front Command and remaining in protected spaces significantly reduces the risk from missile attacks.

According to Lavi, bomb disposal teams have been working continuously since the start of the conflict to locate and neutralize dangerous remnants of Iranian weapons across the country.
