Iranian Missile Strikes Arab-Israeli Town in Northern Israel, Injuring Dozens
ZARZIR (VINnews) An Iranian ballistic missile struck the Arab-Israeli town of Zarzir in northern Israel overnight, injuring more than 50 people, mostly lightly, Israeli emergency services said Friday.
Magen David Adom reported treating over 50 residents for injuries caused by shattered glass, shrapnel and shock following the impact in a residential area. Most injuries were classified as light, though one woman was hospitalized in moderate condition after being hit by shrapnel.
The strike occurred amid an ongoing barrage of Iranian missiles targeting Israel, part of escalating retaliatory exchanges in the widening conflict between Iran, Israel and the United States. Israel’s multi-layered air defense systems intercepted many incoming projectiles, but some fragments or direct hits caused damage and casualties in several locations.
Footage from the scene showed damaged homes, destroyed vehicles and scattered debris in the community, located near Nazareth. Israel Fire and Rescue Services described “extensive destruction” at the impact site, which affected a cluster of private homes.
The Israel Defense Forces said it was investigating the circumstances of the missile impact in Zarzir. No fatalities were immediately reported from the strike.
The attack came as sirens sounded across northern Israel, with additional Iranian projectiles and related fire from proxies like Hezbollah prompting widespread sheltering. The broader conflict, now in its second week, has seen joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets, including missile infrastructure and leadership sites, prompting ongoing Iranian counterstrikes.
Israeli authorities urged residents to remain vigilant as military operations continue.
