Three Hezbollah Operatives Killed in Israeli Strike in Southern Lebanon
BINT JBEIL, LEBANON (VINnews) — Three Hezbollah operatives were killed in an Israeli military strike in the Bint Jbeil area of southern Lebanon on Wednesday, the Israel Defense Forces said Thursday.
The IDF identified the operatives through intelligence gathered by the 91st “Galilee” Regional Division’s 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit. A short time later, forces struck and eliminated them, according to the military.
The 91st Division is deployed in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon as part of the IDF’s enhanced forward defense posture. The deployment follows Hezbollah’s initiation of attacks on Israel earlier this month amid escalating regional tensions.
In its area of operations, the division has focused on dismantling Hezbollah anti-tank missile launch sites and eliminating members of the terror group’s elite Radwan Force.
The strike comes amid ongoing Israeli operations in southern Lebanon targeting Hezbollah infrastructure and personnel, which the IDF says are aimed at preventing the group from rebuilding capabilities and violating ceasefire understandings.
Hezbollah has not immediately commented on the reported deaths in Bint Jbeil. Lebanese media and officials have reported various Israeli strikes in the region in recent days, including in nearby areas, with casualties claimed on both sides in the broader conflict.
The incident occurs against the backdrop of renewed hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, which intensified following Hezbollah’s projectile attacks on northern Israel earlier in March in response to developments in the wider Iran-Israel confrontation.
