Mount Sinai Hospitals Introduce Biometric Identity Checks

Mar 13, 2026·1 min read

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Mount Sinai Health System has become the first health system in New York City to implement biometric identity checks, using technology from Clear Secure Inc., the same company known for speeding travelers through airport security.

The platform uses facial recognition and “liveness” verification to confirm the identity of patients and staff for check-ins and access to digital systems across the health network, which includes seven hospitals and hundreds of outpatient sites.

Mount Sinai said the system is intended to streamline patient verification and improve operational efficiency, though it did not provide specifics on patient enrollment at launch.
