Missile Fragment Hits Boyan Hasidic Jerusalem Synagogue, Wedding Events Relocated

JERUSALEM — Debris from an Iranian missile strike damaged a Hasidic synagogue in Jerusalem on Monday, forcing the cancellation and relocation of celebrations connected to an upcoming wedding in the community.

A large fragment pierced the roof of the Beit Midrash belonging to the Boyan Hasidic court on Malchei Yisrael Street, causing damage to a newer section of the structure that is not made of reinforced concrete.

At the time of the air raid siren, the study hall — known locally as the “kloiz” — was empty, as worshippers and workers had already moved into a protected underground shelter beneath the building, according to community members. No injuries were reported.

Officials from Israel Home Front Command arrived at the site to inspect the building and ensure it was safe following the strike.

Preparations had been underway at the synagogue for the upcoming wedding of a granddaughter of the Boyaner Rebbe, the daughter of his eldest son, Rabbi Yosef Breyer. Following the damage, the main celebration scheduled for Wednesday is expected to be moved to another venue, with organizers considering an underground complex in Givat Ze’ev belonging to the Karlin-Stolin Hasidic movement or a large hall in Kiryat Belz associated with the Belz Hasidic movement.

A pre-wedding gathering planned for Monday evening was relocated to a hall used by the Rachmastrivka Hasidic dynasty in Jerusalem.

After evening prayers, the Boyaner Rebbe addressed followers, expressing gratitude that no one was hurt. He urged the community to thank Hashem for the outcome and prayed that the upcoming wedding would proceed successfully. Followers then joined the Rebbe in song.
