IDF: Troops on Front Lines Shield Northern Residents from Hezbollah Threats
JERUSALEM (VINnews)-Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops from the 36th Division have intensified limited and targeted ground operations in southern Lebanon in recent days, pushing toward an additional objective as part of efforts to bolster security for northern Israeli communities.
The military released new footage showing the activity, which the IDF described as deepening operations to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure and eliminate terrorists. So far, forces have struck and neutralized dozens of operatives while destroying terror-related sites.
“You are the troops operating on the front line so that the enemy meets us—and not the residents of the north,” an IDF statement quoted troops being told, emphasizing the mission’s focus on creating a protective buffer zone.
The operations form part of a broader strategy to establish a forward defense posture, adding an extra security layer for residents of northern Israel who have faced ongoing threats from Hezbollah. The IDF said it continues to act with determination against the Iran-backed terrorist group and will not permit harm to Israeli civilians.
Prior to the ground advances, the military conducted artillery barrages and airstrikes on numerous Hezbollah targets to reduce risks in the area. The 36th Division’s involvement expands on actions by other units, including the 91st Galilee Division, amid escalating border tensions.
The IDF stressed that these are precise, targeted raids rather than a full-scale invasion, aimed at removing immediate threats and preventing Hezbollah from positioning near the border.
No immediate comment was available from Hezbollah or Lebanese officials on the latest developments.
