New Revelations Renew Scrutiny of Mamdani’s Wife Over Past Terrorists-Linked Posts
NEW YORK (VINnews) — Social media posts linked to Rama Duwaji, the wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, are drawing renewed scrutiny after a report by the Washington Free Beacon detailed past content appearing to praise Palestinian militants and criticize Israel.
The report comes amid other controversies in recent weeks involving Duwaji’s social media activity, including reports that she had “liked” posts referencing Hamas attacks. Mayor Mamdani has previously defended his wife, describing her as a private citizen not involved in government.
According to the Free Beacon report Wednesday, posts attributed to Duwaji from her teenage years and early 20s included references to members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which the United States designates as a terrorist organization. Some posts highlighted figures associated with the group and referenced Palestinian resistance movements.
The report also cited reposts and statements critical of Israel’s existence, as well as broader criticism of U.S. foreign policy. Additional posts included commentary on global conflicts and social issues that have since drawn attention amid heightened sensitivities surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The accounts referenced in the report were active years before Mamdani took office and now appear inactive. The outlet said it linked the accounts to Duwaji through identifying details, including references to her name, background, and personal information.
A spokesperson for the mayor did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the latest report, according to the outlet. Mamdani has previously described certain rhetoric tied to individuals connected to his wife’s past work as “reprehensible,” while maintaining that she has not engaged directly with those figures.
The developments highlight ongoing scrutiny of past online activity by public figures and those close to them, particularly as it relates to extremism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The issue has become increasingly prominent in political discourse, as officials face questions over associations, past statements, and social media behavior.
