Israel Approves New Strike Targets in Iran, Lebanon After Dropping 15,000 Bombs
JERUSALEM (VINnews) – Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Wednesday that he and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir have approved a new series of targets for strikes in Iran and Lebanon.
Katz made the announcement following a situational assessment at the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv. He added that the Israeli Air Force has dropped more than 15,000 bombs on Iran since the start of the current war, four times the number of munitions used during the 12-day war in June 2025.
The approval of additional “quality strategic targets” comes as Israel continues intensified operations against Iranian military sites and Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon, according to Israeli media reports. Katz described the expanded target list as aimed at further degrading the capabilities of Iran and its proxies.
The current campaign against Iran, which began Feb. 28, has seen the Israeli Air Force conduct hundreds of sorties targeting missile production facilities, ballistic missile launchers, air defense systems and other regime assets. Israeli officials have said the pace of strikes has slowed in recent days but that thousands of additional targets remain available.
The 12-day conflict in June 2025, known as Operation Rising Lion, involved Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites that prompted Iranian retaliation with hundreds of ballistic missiles and drones against Israel.
No immediate comment was available from Iranian officials or Hezbollah. The developments were first reported by Israeli media outlets including The Times of Israel and the Jerusalem Post.
