U.S. CENTCOM Commander: B-52 Bombers Unloading Up to 70,000 Pounds of Munitions per Mission Against Iran

TAMPA, Fla. (VINnews) – U.S. Central Command forces have struck more than 10,000 Iranian targets, destroyed or damaged two-thirds of Iran’s missile, drone and naval production facilities, and crippled much of its navy, the commander of CENTCOM said Wednesday.

Adm. Brad Cooper, in a video update, said B-52 bombers are delivering up to 70,000 pounds of munitions on each mission as part of ongoing strikes aimed at eliminating Iran’s military manufacturing capabilities.

“Ninety-two percent of Iran’s largest navy vessels are destroyed,” Cooper said, according to the briefing. “Two thirds of Iran’s missile, drone, and naval production facilities and shipyards are destroyed or damaged.”

U.S. forces maintain air superiority over Iranian skies after flying more than 10,000 combat sorties, he added.

“And we’re not done yet,” Cooper said. “We are on a path to completely eliminate Iran’s wider military manufacturing apparatus, which is why my operational assessment continues to be Iran’s combat capability is declining as U.S. combat capability continues to increase.”

The remarks come amid Operation Epic Fury, the U.S.-led campaign of airstrikes against Iranian military sites that began in late February. Cooper praised American troops for their performance.

“I just could not be prouder of our troops, and I know the American people share that same pride,” he said. “Thanks so much. Godspeed.”

The Pentagon has not released an independent breakdown of the exact number of targets struck or vessels destroyed, but Cooper’s assessment aligns with previous CENTCOM updates that have reported thousands of strikes on missile sites, command posts and naval assets, including repeated B-52, B-1 and B-2 bomber missions.

Iran has not immediately commented on the latest claims. The Islamic Republic has previously described U.S. and Israeli strikes as acts of aggression while vowing to defend itself.

The operation has focused on degrading Iran’s ability to threaten shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to project power through its missile and drone programs. U.S. officials have said the campaign is aimed at neutralizing long-term threats to American forces and regional partners.
