Ugandan Chief Of Staff: If Israel Faces Existential Threat, Uganda Will Stand By Its Side
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Chief of Staff of the Ugandan army, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the son of Uganda’s president, stated early Thursday in a series of posts on his X account that, in light of the war, if Israel faces an existential threat, Uganda will stand by its side.
In a post that received hundreds of thousands of likes, Kainerugaba clarified that his aspiration is to see an end to the bloodshed, but emphasized that he would not accept attempts to destroy Israel.
He expressed unusual support, writing: “We want the war in the Middle East to end now. The world is tired of it. But any talk of destroying or defeating Israel will bring us into the war—on Israel’s side!”
In another post, Kainerugaba wrote: “The Ugandan army will enter this war between Iran and Israel, on Israel’s side, if it does not end soon. Israel has a right to exist, and the attacks against it must stop.”
In another tweet, Kainerugaba explained the religious significance of his position: “If Israel needs help, their Ugandan brothers are ready to assist. We stand with Israel because we are Christians. The Bible says, ‘Blessed are you, Israel!'”
The last official diplomatic visit from Israel to Uganda was a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in 2020. The visit marked a strengthening of the strategic alliance between the two countries across a wide range of areas.
