ROCKLAND COUNTY (VINnews) — The U.S. Postal Service confirmed that mail carrier Gabriel Stan remains employed with the agency following his arrest in connection with an incident in which he allegedly shoved a 4-year-old Jewish boy to the ground, according to the New York Post.

Stan, 39, was charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child after video emerged showing a mail carrier pushing a young boy in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood in Ramapo, New Jersey, the Post reported.

Local residents quoted by the Post described Stan as having a volatile temperament and said he had previously shouted at community members during mail deliveries.

The alleged incident occurred on March 19 near a residential cul-de-sac where children were present, according to footage cited by the Post.

Residents quoted in the report said the child appeared to approach a mailbox near the postal truck before being pushed to the ground, after which he quickly stood up and returned to other children nearby.

The child’s mother declined to comment to the Post.

Police sources told the outlet the incident is not being investigated as a hate crime.

A USPS spokesperson said the agency does not comment on personnel matters beyond confirming employment status, the Post reported.

Stan could not be reached for comment.
