Netanyahu Says Israel Forming Secret Military Alliances With Arab Countries Against Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told cabinet ministers Monday that Israel is actively building coalitions with Arab nations willing to fight alongside it, Maariv reported, as Gulf states increasingly align with Israel against the Iranian threat.
“We are forming alliances with Arab countries that are talking about fighting together on our side,” Netanyahu said at the cabinet meeting, according to the report.
Netanyahu described years of quiet warnings to Arab leaders about Iran’s regional ambitions that he said have now proved prescient.
“In the past, I had secret conversations with Arab leaders,” he said. “I told them, ‘As soon as Iran can, it will conquer you and overthrow your kingdoms.’ Back then, they didn’t really internalize things. Today they understand.”
His remarks were echoed a day earlier by Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, who said Gulf nations have been actively seeking Israeli assistance.
“Some of our allies have become even greater allies over the past month,” Leiter said on a podcast. “Whether it’s UAE, Bahrain, I think we’ve become closer to the Saudis, closer to the Omanis. Closer to the Kuwaitis for crying out loud. They’ve asked us for assistance.”
Leiter also hinted at coordinated operations with Arab partners. “Israel and her allies will continue to act,” he said. “This could really make the difference going into the future.”
