IDF Soldier Killed By Friendly Fire In Southern Lebanon; 2nd Soldier Seriously Wounded

An IDF soldier was killed overnight on Shabbos during combat in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced on Motzei Shabbos.

He was identified as Sgt. First Class Guy Ludar, H’yd, 21 from Yuvalim, a yishuv in the Lower Galil. He served in the Maglan Unit of the Commando Brigade.

He was killed as a result of friendly fire, the IDF said. Another soldier was seriously wounded in the same incident.

According to the IDF, a Maglan commando unit was carrying out an operation in a Lebanese village to arrest a suspect tied to Hezbollah. During the operation, a soldier opened fire at suspects who appeared to be fleeing, killing Ludar and wounding another soldier.

The IDF said the incident is under investigation.
