Tucker Carlson Expresses Regret for Backing Trump, Calls Iran War ‘Absolutely Disgusting and Evil’

NEW YORK (VINnews) – Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson said Monday he expects to be “tormented” for years by his role in helping elect President Donald Trump, citing the U.S. military operation in Iran as “absolutely disgusting and evil.”

In a conversation with his brother, former Republican speechwriter Buckley Carlson, on “The Tucker Carlson Show,” the 56-year-old former Fox News host expressed remorse for campaigning for Trump and misleading supporters.

“You and I and everyone else who supported him, you wrote speeches for him, I campaigned for him, I mean we’re implicated in this for sure,” Carlson said. “It’s not enough to say, ‘I changed my mind.’ Or like, ‘Oh this is bad, I’m out.’ … We’ll be tormented by it for a long time. I will be. And I want to say I’m sorry for misleading people.”

Carlson has grown increasingly critical of Trump since the launch of Operation Epic Fury, the U.S.-led military action against Iran that began earlier this year. He previously described the operation as a betrayal of “America First” principles that Trump campaigned on, particularly his past opposition to endless foreign wars.

The remarks mark a sharp break for Carlson, who was once a vocal Trump supporter. Trump has pushed back, calling Carlson “not MAGA” and criticizing him along with other conservative voices like Megyn Kelly and Candace Owens who have opposed the Iran operation.

Carlson also pointed to what he called “signs of low character” in the president, though he stopped short of fully disavowing his past views on other issues.
