Melania Trump Urges ABC to Fire Jimmy Kimmel Over ‘Expectant Widow’ Remark
(VINnews) – First lady Melania Trump called for ABC to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after accusing him of using “hateful” rhetoric following a monologue in which he referred to her as “an expectant widow.”
During a parody tied to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Kimmel mocked President Donald Trump and the first lady, joking about their marriage before delivering the line, “Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” a remark that quickly drew backlash from Trump allies.
In a post on X on Monday, the first lady said Kimmel’s remarks crossed a line and accused the comedian of deepening political divisions, calling the rhetoric “hateful and violent” and arguing it was intended to sow division in the country.
Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn’t comedy- his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.
People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to…

She said Kimmel’s comments were not comedy but part of what she described as a broader political sickness, and criticized the network for continuing to give him a platform. Melania Trump also questioned how many times ABC leadership would continue, in her words, to enable what she called Kimmel’s “atrocious behavior,” and urged the network to take action.
The criticism came as the remarks drew heightened scrutiny because they aired days before the correspondents’ dinner was disrupted by what authorities described as a suspected attempted assassination incident, adding to outrage among Trump supporters. Neither Kimmel nor ABC immediately responded publicly to the first lady’s demand.
