Haredi Extremists Break Into Military Police Chief’s Home in Ashkelon; IDF Chief, Netanyahu Condemn Attack
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir strongly condemned Haredi extremists who broke into the Ashkelon home of Military Police chief Brig. Gen. Yuval Yamin Tuesday evening while his family was inside, describing it as crossing a dangerous red line.
The incident took place amid anti-conscription protests across the country in response to the arrest of a Haredi draft dodger.

“I strongly condemn the attack. Harm to security personnel and their families constitutes the crossing of a dangerous red line,” Zamir said in a statement. He added that he “fully backs” Yamin for the “dedicated fulfillment of his duties.”
“This is a grave incident, and decisive action is required by all law enforcement and security authorities to bring those involved to justice,” Zamir said.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz also issued strong condemnations.
“I strongly condemn the wild and violent attack against the chief Military Police officer and demand that firm action be taken against those involved,” Netanyahu said.
Katz called the perpetrators “a group of violent criminals who must be brought to justice with the full severity of the law.”
“I fully back Brig. Gen. Yuval Yamin and make it clear: We will not allow harm to IDF commanders and soldiers,” Katz added.
Police worked to arrest and disperse protesters at the scene.
