TERROR: Two Jews Stabbed in Golders Green, London

Apr 29, 2026·3 min read

[Videos below.] Authorities have classified a stabbing in North London that left two people wounded as a terrorist incident, as investigators examine whether the assault specifically targeted the local Jewish community.

Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said counterterrorism units are leading the probe and are working to determine “whether this attack was deliberately targeting the Jewish community in London.”

Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the violence in the Golders Green area as an “antisemitic attack,” noting that the neighborhood has recently experienced a rise in such incidents.

Police reported that two victims, aged 76 and 34, suffered stab wounds and were treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital. Both were said to be in stable condition.

A 45-year-old suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly trying to attack police officers as well. Officers deployed a taser before arresting him, and officials said they are continuing efforts to “establish his nationality and background.”

In a message today, Starmer condemned the violence, writing: “The antisemitic attack in Golders Green is utterly appalling. Attacks on our Jewish community are attacks on Britain.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan also denounced the incident, calling it an “appalling attack on two Jewish Londoners” and announcing increased police presence in the neighborhood with “high visibility patrols in the area.”

The stabbing follows a series of troubling events in the same community, including a recent arson attack that damaged multiple ambulances serving the area, which Starmer had labeled a “deeply shocking antisemitic” act. Another suspected arson incident was reported earlier in the week.

Local volunteer patrol group Shomrim said a man carrying a knife had been seen running along Golders Green Road on Wednesday, “attempting to stab Jewish members of the public.”

According to the group, two individuals were wounded and received medical attention from Hatzolah.

Golders Green is home to roughly 15,000 residents, about half of whom are Jewish.

The earlier arson attack on Hatzolah ambulances in late March deeply unsettled local residents. In connection with that case, three men and a teenager have been charged and were ordered held in custody, with court proceedings scheduled to continue in August.

Police also disclosed that a separate suspected arson attack occurred Monday at a memorial wall in the same neighborhood.

According to BBC News, the wall featured tributes to Iranians killed during protests against their government and stood near a Jewish center. It also included a section memorializing victims of the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attacks in southern Israel.

Authorities said counterterrorism officers are handling that investigation as well, although it has not yet been officially classified as a terrorist act.

“We recognise that this incident will heighten concerns in the Golders Green area, where residents have already faced a series of attacks,” Williams said in a statement Monday.

He added that police have increased efforts to “reassure communities,” including deploying armed patrols following last month’s arson attack.
