IDF Destroys 80-Meter Hezbollah Tunnel in Eastern Southern Lebanon

May 3, 2026·1 min read

JERUSALEM (VINnews) – The Israel Defense Forces said Sunday it razed an 80-meter-long (262-foot) Hezbollah tunnel in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, destroying an underground site that included several rooms used by militants for living quarters.

After scanning the tunnel, IDF combat engineers demolished the structure, the military said in a statement. No further details were immediately released about the operation’s timing or additional findings inside the tunnel.

The action comes amid ongoing Israeli military operations against Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, aimed at preventing the Iran-backed group from using cross-border tunnels for attacks or infiltration. Hezbollah has constructed an extensive network of tunnels and bunkers in the region in recent years.

Israeli forces have repeatedly struck Hezbollah positions and underground sites since the escalation of hostilities along the Lebanon border in October 2023.
