IDF Strike Kills Fourth Son of Senior Hamas Leader Khalil al-Hayya in Gaza City
GAZA CITY (VINnews)-The Israeli military struck and killed Azzam Khalil al-Hayya, a son of senior Hamas leader Dr. Khalil al-Hayya, in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City, according to reports from Palestinian sources.
Azzam al-Hayya was the fourth son of the Hamas official to be killed by Israel, Palestinian media reported Wednesday. Khalil al-Hayya serves as head of Hamas’ political bureau in the Gaza Strip and leads the group’s negotiating delegation.
The strike occurred in the Al-Daraj area of Gaza City. Details on the precise timing and additional casualties were not immediately available.
Khalil al-Hayya has faced repeated personal losses in the ongoing conflict. Another son, Imam (also reported as Humam or Hammam) al-Hayya, was killed in an Israeli strike targeting Hamas figures in Qatar in September 2025. Earlier losses included his eldest son Osama, killed along with family members in a 2014 strike.
The Israel Defense Forces have not immediately commented on the reported strike. Israeli operations in Gaza have targeted Hamas leadership and infrastructure throughout the war, which has seen multiple rounds of escalation since Oct. 7, 2023. Hamas has repeatedly described such actions as assassinations, while Israel characterizes them as necessary measures against terrorists.
Khalil al-Hayya remains a key figure in Hamas’ political leadership and ceasefire negotiations.
