JERUSALEM (VINnews) — BDE:The Torah world and the residents of Ramat Hasharom mourn the passing of Rebbetzin Meira Edelstein, of blessed memory, widow of the eminent Rabbi Yaakov Edelstein, of blessed memory, the rabbi of Ramat HaSharon. She passed away at the age of 89.

Rebbetzin Edelstein, of blessed memory, was born as Nira to the Tzavik family. In her earlier years she was a well-known Israeli actress, singer, pantomime performer, and television host, known as Nira Adi.
Later in life she became religiously observant and merited to bring honor to G-d’s name. She married Rabbi Avraham Lewis, of blessed memory, a student of the Chazon Ish and among the first students of the Kaminetz Yeshiva, who was a chavrusa of Rabbi Yosef Lieberman, author of Mishnat Yosef.
About three months after her husband’s passing, she changed her name to Meira. In Iyar 5772 (2012), she married Rabbi Yaakov Edelstein, of blessed memory, in what was also his third marriage, after his first wife passed away at a young age and later his second wife, Rebbetzin Mina, of blessed memory.
The match between Mrs. Meira and Rabbi Yaakov was arranged by the prominent halachic authority Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein. The wedding was held in a modest format at Rabbi Zilberstein’s home in Ramat Chen, Ramat Gan, attended by only 50 people, with Rabbi Zilberstein officiating the marriage ceremony.
Since marrying her husband, she stood faithfully by his side with remarkable devotion and served as a listening ear to the thousands who frequently visited his home.
May her soul be bound in the bond of eternal life.
