El Al Opens World’s Largest Kosher Aviation Catering Plant at Ben Gurion
TEL AVIV, Israel (VINnews) – El Al Israel Airlines has inaugurated a new kosher aviation catering facility at Ben Gurion Airport, which the carrier says is the largest of its kind in the world.
The facility, operated by Tamam Aircraft Food Industries, opened Wednesday and spans about 14,000 square meters — nearly twice the size of the previous plant. It has the capacity to produce up to 50,000 meals a day, compared with 30,000 at the old site.

Built with an investment of hundreds of millions of shekels, the plant features advanced technological systems for food preparation and quality control. El Al said it will allow the airline to expand operations, increase meal variety and support future growth. A full transition from the decades-old facility is expected to occur gradually over the coming months.
“We continue to invest consistently and significantly in improving the flight experience, understanding that every component of the customer journey is part of the overall experience,” El Al CEO Levi Halevi said in a statement. “TAMAM’s new plant allows us to raise the culinary standard for El Al passengers, expand operational capabilities and support El Al’s growth for years to come.”
Kenny Rozenberg, one of El Al’s controlling shareholders, called the opening “a significant moment for us, as an Israeli company and as people who believe in El Al’s ability to continue leading.”
“This investment reflects deep confidence in the company and its people, and strengthens our commitment to continued growth and development,” Rozenberg added. “The new plant will make it possible to provide kosher food at the highest level to the international market as well.”
The project is part of El Al’s broader efforts to upgrade infrastructure and enhance passenger service.
