🔥BIG: HaRav Dovid Yosef Urges Netanyahu, Herzog To Join Trump’s Call To Observe Shabbos

May 10, 2026·2 min read

Harav Dovid Yosef, the Rishon L’Tzion and Chief Rabbi of Israel, issued an emotional appeal during his weekly shiur on Motzei Shabbos, calling on the public in Eretz Yisroel and around the world to strengthen Shabbos observance — and directly urging Israel’s Prime Minister and President to join President Donald Trump’s recent public call to honor Shabbos.

Earlier this week, the White House released an official proclamation marking Jewish American Heritage Month 2026 and America’s 250th anniversary, in which President Trump expressed deep appreciation for Judaism and encouraged Americans to respect Shabbos and take time to rest.

Connecting Trump’s remarks to the upcoming Shabbos Parshas Bamidbar — traditionally known as “Shabbos Kallah” ahead of Kabbolas HaTorah on Shavuos — Harav Yosef cited the Chazal that “if Klal Yisroel keeps two Shabbosos, they will immediately be redeemed.”

“I first and foremost expect and call upon the President of the State and the Prime Minister of the Jewish State to join the call of the President of the United States, at the very least here in Eretz Yisroel,” Harav Yosef said.

The Rav also called on Jews around the world to unite in observing the upcoming Shabbos together.

“How important it is that we all unite around Shabbos Kodesh. If a non-Jew respects our religion so much and even calls upon non-Jews to rest on Shabbos, then certainly we Jews — who have the Torah, our tradition, and the precious gift called Shabbos Kodesh — should unite around keeping Shabbos. In that merit, may we merit the complete redemption speedily.”
