PETAH TIKVA (VINnews) – A 47-year-old IDF reservist was killed Saturday when Hezbollah launched several explosive drones into northern Israel, the military announced Sunday.
Warrant Officer (res.) Alexander Glovanyov, a driver in the Transport Center’s 6924th Battalion, was killed in the attack close to the Lebanon border, according to an IDF investigation. Glovanyov, a resident of Petah Tikva, was the sole fatality in the incident.
The drones struck Israeli territory, with one detonating in a manner that killed Glovanyov, the military said. No other injuries were immediately reported.
Hezbollah has intensified drone and rocket attacks on northern Israel amid ongoing cross-border hostilities. The IDF has responded with strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
Glovanyov is survived by family in central Israel. Funeral arrangements were pending Sunday.
