NEW YORK (VINnews) — Swastikas were discovered in two public parks in Queens, prompting condemnation from New York City officials amid a recent rise in antisemitic vandalism in the borough.
According to a statement released Monday by Julie Menin, at least 11 swastikas were found spray-painted in Highland Park and Forest Park.
My statement with @Lynn4NYC and @JoannAriola32:
Highland Park and Forest Park in Queens were vandalized with at least 11 swastikas.
Just a week ago today, similar antisemitic graffiti was found at two synagogues and two private homes in the borough.

Menin, alongside Council members Lynn Schulman and Joann Ariola, said the vandalism came just one week after antisemitic graffiti was reported at two synagogues and two private homes in Queens.
“This is yet another hateful incident meant to intimidate Jewish New Yorkers and divide our city,” the council members said in a joint statement.
The New York City Police Department is investigating the incidents. City officials said the graffiti would be removed by the Parks Department as soon as possible.
The lawmakers also pointed to the City Council’s recently approved five-point action plan aimed at combating antisemitism through education, prevention and accountability measures.
